The Titans behind the arm of staff ace Seth Caillat pounded the Brewers 10-0 today to improve to 3-0. The win marked the best ever start by the club. Caillat lead the team dominating over seven shutout innings allowing just 1 hit with 13 strike outs and only 4 walks.
The Titans previous best mark was all the way back in 2005 when the team started out 2-1 and went on to finish 14-3-1. Already insiders are comparing this team with the powerhouse of the great ’05 team. When reached for comment, Titans skipper Rich Vitali said, “It’s hard to overlook what those guys did back in 05, but I’d have a hard time envisioning that team keeping pace with today’s players. Just look at what Joe Vitali’s done, already with 10 stolen bases! I think the main difference between that team and this one, is, well even though they had a lot of great players up and down the lineup, well, I just don’t think the team was as complete or nearly as deep as this one. It’s just so much fun, watching so many stars compete on the same team.”
The Titans started off today’s game in fine fashion posting three runs on the board in the first inning. They added three more in the second, two in the third, and two in the fifth. Caillat was relieved in the 7th disappointing the announced crowd of 13 spectators. “I know the fans wanted to see Salty finish off his masterpiece, but he’d already given up one hit, and shoot, well we have three other fine pitchers and they need work too.” Vitali later said. Hammering Hank came in to slam the door shut relieving the final two innings, allowing no hits, with four strike outs and one walk. It was by far the young southpaw’s strongest performance and capped Caillat’s career best REBL pitching performance.
Other Titans stars for the day included Joe Vitali who had two hits, one run, and three stolen bases, and Isaac Laprade who also had two hits in three at bats with one run, two RBI’s, and two stolen bases.
Tony Bulleri and Colby Phelps both bought themselves batting averages, as each player recorded their first hit of the year. Both players hits came in the first inning, each on RBI singles. Tony Bulleri later had one of his best drives of the year, hitting one deep, but unfortunately right at the right fielder.
